How to connect to XLX159

Pick the mode your radio (or hotspot, or software client) speaks. Each card opens a per-mode setup guide.

D-Star

Native D-Star on Module A. Use URCALL CQCQCQ or a specific callsign. RPT1 / RPT2 point at your local repeater or hotspot — the reflector is at the gateway.

DMR

DMR slot 2 on Module B via Brandmeister. Program a per-channel timeslot, color code 1, and the appropriate talk group. Talkgroup list on the Modules page.

YSF (Yaesu System Fusion)

YSF rooms bridge into Module B. Set the DGID to match the module you want. Most Pi-Star / WPSD hotspots handle this in the Fusion setup panel.

P25

P25 NAC routing into Module D. Set NAC 293 on the channel, talkgroup as needed. Most P25 hotspots bridge this transparently.

NXDN

NXDN routing on a dedicated module. Set the RAN (Radio Access Number) per the modules page. Talkgroup routing follows your hotspot config.

M17

M17 reflector module. Configure your hotspot with the XLX159 reflector address and your callsign. Most modern M17 clients support this directly.

TGIF Network

TGIF (The Grid Is Freedom) hotspots bridge into the XLX159 modules — typically Module B and Module C. Configure your TGIF-compatible hotspot with the XLX159 TGIF number and your callsign.

AllStar Node

Connect via AllStar node 678350 or 47691 — both bridge into XLX159 modules. Use a phone app (DVSwitch), an AllStar client, or the AllStar web transceiver.

Troubleshooting

Common problems and how to track them down. Start with the obvious (power, network, callsign registration) before going deeper.

Connection drops mid-QSO

Check your hotspot log. TIMEOUT or disconnected lines point to network or DHCP issues. A static IP on the hotspot avoids most of them.

Garbled or robotic audio

Almost always a transcoding glitch on a cross-mode call. Try a same-mode QSO first; if same-mode is clean, the issue is the transcoder, not your setup.

Module locked / busy

If the module shows locked, another station is currently in QSO. The reflector serializes traffic per module — wait your turn or pick another module.

Callsign rejected

D-Star callsigns need to be registered on the gateway dashboard. DMR IDs are issued by RadioID.net. Both must match the operator's callsign.
